Getting to Know Laelanie Larach Marine Paintings & Love for the Ocean World in Florida

Where were you born, and how did your origins influence your artistic vocation related to the sea?

I was born in Honduras, a beautiful tropical country with beautiful coastal landscapes that gave me inspiration during my artistic career, which began when I was very young.  I started painting with watercolors and oils, my first painting was a surreal landscape with mountains, flowers, magical trees around a blue sea. The name of my first painting is titled "Mysterious Forest" and it was my first oil work that inspired me to continue painting several colorful oil paintings. I remember that in Honduras I liked to go to the beach and the lake, I always took artistic photos of the sea next to the sunset with its beautiful mountains in which they are part of my inspiration within my nautical art. From there I began to incorporate the sea into my paintings and that's how I started to oil paint my nautical paintings with tropical palm trees and vibrant colors.

What motivated you to paint marine and coastal scenes? What are you looking to convey with your ocean landscapes?

I have always liked to paint everything that is related to the sea and nature, the sea gives me tranquility and a beautiful inspiration when I start painting a collection of nautical art with tropical landscapes that reflect the love I have for nature. Within my ocean landscapes I like to convey the beauty of the sea along with colorful and tropical palm trees in which they capture the energy of Florida and my beautiful memories I have of Honduras. My nautical works convey a concept of tranquility and tropical energy within an imaginary nautical world with beautiful vibrant colors that I love to use when painting a nautical landscape.

How do you define your artistic style and where does the vibrant color palette you use in your seascapes come from?

My artistic style is abstract, contemporary and nautical, I like to combine several techniques in a single work in which I generate a three-dimensional movement with textures that stand out from the work. Within my nautical landscapes I love to paint long palm trees around a blue sea and sailboats in different colors rotating around a cosmic sphere in which it represents the sun and ocean. Other works have sea turtles with beautiful tropical colors within a world with corals and starfish. They are beautiful imaginary nautical landscapes that I make with a lot of love dedicated to nature and the sea. My favorite colors have always been blue, turquoise, pink, purple and many vibrant color combinations that reflect my tropical energy and are colors that also give me peace of mind when I am painting a nautical painting, especially blue I use a lot in my paintings.

As founder and CEO of your gallery, what challenges have you faced as a leading woman in the art world?

Since I was little my goal was always to have my own art gallery, "Laelanie Art Gallery" and only sell my paintings to art buyers who love my abstract art with landscapes inspired by the sea and nature. As a woman artist it is a great challenge and with great joy I want to say that I was able to achieve my dream of being able to open my art gallery and be part of large art fairs. During my artistic career I had many challenges in which they strengthened me and gave me the impulse to never give up and always follow my goals. I would like to see more support for women in painting and expose more of the achievements of women in an artistic career.

How do you integrate your Hispanic culture and identity into your work and how does it influence your seascapes?

All the beautiful moments I had in Honduras influence my marine art, as I said before I always liked the sea and the lake were my favorite places when I lived in Honduras. From there began my inspiration in making nautical paintings with palm trees, sailboats, sea turtles and other works are totally abstract with beautiful nautical colors that also reflect the beautiful landscapes of Florida. It is a combination of beautiful moments and memories that are combined into a single work of art in which it reflects my Hispanic identity and my love for the sea.

Do you think there are many women dedicated to nautical art? Have you collaborated with other artists in this field?

I think there are few women in nautical art, and therefore I like to paint works related to the sea that highlight the beauty of our nature. I have not had the pleasure of collaborating with another artist in the nautical field, perhaps later I can do an exhibition of nautical art with other artists who have the same interest in the sea.

How do you inspire other women to pursue marine art?

Keep going in making beautiful paintings related to the sea and the tranquility that nature transmits using tropical and vibrant colors! It is beautiful to paint works related to the sea and the tranquility it gives us when there is a connection with nature.

How do you balance your creative passion with your entrepreneurial role? What leadership lessons have you learned along the way?

I do everything with a lot of creativity and dedication, I love to do everything alone and focus on what I like the most, on painting nautical works with an abstract and colorful style that awaken my creativity within my artistic career and my goals.

What advice would you give to other women who want to start a business in fields related to the sea or the nautical industry from art?

It is beautiful to paint works with nautical landscapes, because they give us an internal tranquility and we all like everything related to the sea. I invite all women artists to paint beautiful nautical landscapes with tropical colors in which they highlight the beauty of our tropical nature and will provide an inspiration to other people who love to have a connection with the sea.

What are your next projects or collaborations planned in the nautical field?

I plan to make a new collection of nautical art with colorful sailboats for the week of Art Basel, in which I want to exhibit my beautiful collection. Would you remain forever creating nautical works?

The sea has always been my source of inspiration within my nautical landscapes, and I will always continue to paint beautiful colorful paintings related to the sea.

How would you define the nautical world?

It is a magical and inspiring world that gives us tranquility and, in my case, it gives me a lot of creativity when I start to make a beautiful painting with tropical palm trees around a blue sea that only exists in my imagination without limits.

I would love to see my nautical paintings in museums around the world and see the joy that the sea brings to people who like my marine art. Have you had the idea of bringing your works into the interiors of luxury yachts?

The truth has not occurred to me, in case the opportunity arises to exhibit my art on luxury yachts, I would love to be part of this beautiful experience.
